Monaghan Instructor gains Shodan Blackbelt Accreditation
Seamus Brady, instructor of Monaghan Koryu Uchinadi  Karate Club recently attended the Koryu Uchinadi Kenpo Jutsu Gasshuku in Holland. A full weeks training from 8.30am to 6.00pm took place for five days fallowed by a seminar and grading. Seamus who is now a full time student to world renowned Martial Artist sensei Patrick McCarthy received his second Koryu Uchinadi accreditation to Shodan Black belt. He adds this to his Blackbelt 3rd Dan in Shotokan style. He was assessed on Kata applications (self defence against habitual acts of physical violence and solo practises, Kihon Waza (Fundamentals) Ne Waza (ground grappling), Keri Waza (kicking techniques), Kamae waza (Postures) Bojutsu (Weapons) and Kumite (sparring). Monaghan Ku students would like to congratulate their instructor and join him on his KU Shodan celebrations.

Seamus Brady started training in karate from a youhn age. With regular training, he moved up the grades in Shotokan achieving,

1st Dan black belt from sensei Andy Sherry (KUGB) on 17/5/1996, 
2nd  Dan from sensei k.Eneoda (JKA) on 5/3/1999 
3rd Dan from Hanshi Patrick Mc Carthy/ Sensei Paul Allan on 8/11/2007.
He acheived black belt (yudan) in Koryu Uchinadi Kenpo Jutsu on 5/5/2010 from Hanshi Patrick Mc Carthy. 

He has competed in national competition in both kumite and kata winning three national kata championships in 1998 (SKFI) 2006 (KUI) and (IKAB) 2009. He also was a winner on the KUI Kumite team and runner up in the KUI nationals Individual kumite 2006. Internationally he competed for Ireland in the JKA world championships, Japan 2000, and WSKA world championships in Chicago 2005. He also has taken part in ESKA Europeans Spain 2004, JKA European  championships Norway 2005, and ESKA Europeans Poland 2006.

Sensei Brady has being training from an early age in different sports including

martial arts,  weights and boxing,. His experience and  knowledge covers a wide range of aspects including aerobic and anaerobic workouts, cardio weight management, cardio fitness training, fast twitch and slow twitch muscle development, strength or endurance training along with body development.

Seamus has also giving self-defence courses including Doohamlet Youth Club, after school homework and activity programs (Threemile house and Scotshouse primary schools), plus women’s groups, i.e (The Blaney Blades).












Assistant Instructors.
Daniel Cawley is assistant instructor with our club and has been involved with Monaghan Karate Club from it first opened in 1996. His main roll is teaching the Junior class Shotokan and up to date training methods for Juniors.
 














Daniel received his 1st Dan from Sensei Tommy Mc Grain & Paul Hickey (KUI) in May 2007. He is also a previous Irish Junior Kumite champion reaching National Finals in 2006, 2007 & 2008. Although still competing he currently is completing a sport and leisure management course to add to his coaching ability's.
